Good free-lance
editors are invaluable, but they are rare, hard to find, and, as you might
expect, busy. An editor I can recommend without reservation is Judith
Searle, email (JSearle479@aol.com).
Judith, who was trained by Renni Browne (whose lecture and book I
recommended earlier), is knowledgeable, experienced, reliable, and a
genuinely good person. If she agrees to edit your manuscript, she will do
so carefully, point out its problems, and suggest alterations, and she’ll do
it with kindness. And no, I have no business connection with Judith. I’m
just a fan.
